Immigration formalities

On arrival in French Polynesia, all crew and passengers must be in possession of a valid passport and tourist visa if necessary, as listed below. Make sure to obtain all visas BEFORE ARRIVAL at the nearest French Ambassy or Consulate.

Non EC citizens must additionally have an outbound air ticket or deposit a bond into a bank. Bonds are countervalues of a one-way air ticket to the country of origin. TAHITI OCEAN proposes a bond exemption facility for non EC crew and passengers, avoiding bond deposit and uneasy recovery. See Service fees section.

From April 1st 2008, all crew with seamen’s book are allowed to stay in Tahiti on visiting yachts without any time restriction. With this document, a simple transit visa is now necessary to join the yacht by plane.

ATTENTION: All non EC citizens not holding a seamen's intending to stay longer than three months in French Polynesia must request a long stay visa at least five months BEFORE ARRIVAL at the French Consulate of the country of origin. EC citizens can apply in Papeete.

Visas and Visa extensions are subject to payment of one to three fiscal stamps (Usd 35 each).
